What to Do Near Your Idaho Rental This Spring

With its majestic mountains, colorful wildflower meadows, and many leisure activities, Idaho is an ideal place to spend Spring. This is a state that’s not only home to exceptional natural beauty, it also offers an array of activities and places to explore.

Whether you are staying in your Idaho rental for a short time or a longer period, you will find plenty to enjoy within easy reach of your rental home. From bubbling natural springs in Eastern Idaho to historical landmarks in Boise, you will never be short of things to see and do during your stay in an Idaho rental.

As there is such a vast choice of activities to try and sights to see, it doesn’t matter whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, or with kids; Idaho has indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy in Spring. 

Activities in Eastern Idaho

Eastern Idaho is home to the cities of Blackfoot, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls, and offers a wide choice of things to do both inside and outside.

Outdoor activities in Eastern Idaho

Outdoor activities are available in abundance in Eastern Idaho. If you’re staying close to Idaho Falls, you may want to walk or cycle the city’s Idaho Falls River Walk, also known as the Greenbelt. This five-mile trail runs alongside the Snake River and is an excellent way to see the famous falls and take in this area of Idaho Falls at your own pace.

Ross Park in Pocatello offers a fun day out and is ideal for families. The park offers a choice of attractions, including a zoo, playground equipment at Pleasureland, and a skatepark. Another attraction at the park is the Pocatello Ross Park Aquatic Complex. The complex features a main pool, activity pool, water slides, lazy river, and more. 

Lava Hot Springs is another attraction to consider during your time in Idaho. This world-famous destination features natural, bubbling springs with temperatures ranging from 102˚ F to 112˚ F.

If you want to take the opportunity to explore further, Eastern Idaho is known as a gateway to Yellowstone National Park.

Indoor activities in Eastern Idaho

Eastern Idaho is a hot spot for outdoor activities, but there’s plenty to enjoy inside, too. Head downtown in Idaho Falls to visit the Museum of Idaho to discover local history and to check out more of what the museum holds.

Idaho Falls is also the home of the Idaho Falls Spud Kings hockey team. Games take place through early spring, and promo nights take place through most of the season.

In Blackfoot, visiting the Idaho Potato Museum is a unique indoor activity. This one-of-a-kind museum showcases Idaho’s Famous Potatoes®. Don’t forget to indulge in a potato treat while you’re there.

For more indoor fun, check out Idaho State University’s website. The Pocatello-based university hosts theater productions, workshops, and talks throughout the year.

Activities in Boise and the Surrounding Area

Idaho’s capital city, Boise, offers an excellent choice of activities to enjoy, both inside the vibrant city and in the surrounding areas. From historical and cultural experiences to active outdoor fun, Boise and its surrounding areas offer a range of options during the Spring.

Each year, people flock to the Boise River Greenbelt. The Greenbelt includes 29 miles of tree-lined trails. If you choose, alopng the way you can discover Boise’s historic parks by following the Ribbon of Jewels. Each park is named after one of Boise’s female civil leaders, honoring their commitment to the community they served.

Nature lovers may want to spend time in the Idaho Botanical Garden. You could spend many hours among the plants at this 23-acre site.

If you love to be in the great outdoors, you may enjoy Eagle Island State Park, which is just outside of Boise. The parks’ activities include hiking, kayaking, and canoeing, and there are equestrian trails, too.

For those with an interest in history, consider spending time in the Idaho State Capitol. The neoclassical building is open to the public for self-guided tours that involve interactive exhibits with information about the Gem State.

There are further opportunities to learn more about Idaho’s history at the Idaho State Museum. With more than 500 artifacts on display and dozens of multimedia exhibits, this family-friendly museum has features to keep visitors engaged.

Those looking for ice hockey games may want to watch the Idaho Steelheads play. If you’re in the city before mid-April, check out the schedule and secure yourself some tickets to see the team at Idaho Central Arena in Boise.
